A unique grape varietyFresh and fruity, the Chasselas is a surprisingly modern variety. It grown in many countries, but particularly in Switzerland, South Germany, Hungary and Romania. It requires a specific type of soil and climate to produce excellent wines. Therefore, the planting areas must be carefully chosen. The Association for the promotion of Chasselas was founded in Aigle/Switzerland. Its main purpose is to promote and encourage the plantation of this unique variety. In order to popularise the Chasselas even further, an international tasting competition will be held every year. Ideally situated on the easter end of Lake Geneva, Switzerland, the pretty town of Aigle has been chosen to organise this event. |
